Stop the Iran Madness
Well, we're getting very close to the moment that Republicans and Trump have been working so diligently toward for so many years. It started with the Big Lie: that the Iran nuclear deal "paved the way" for Iran to build nukes, when in fact it did the opposite. As long as we were in the deal, it was going to be impossible for us to manufacture a pretext for war with and regime change in Iran. So the first step was to unilaterally pull out of the deal, then to commit the US to endless provocations (including crippling economic sanctions aimed at the Iranian middle class) and further lies so that maybe, just maybe -- if we are lucky -- we will get the chance to engage in full out war with Iran, a conflict that will make Iraq look like a picnic. Trump ran as the guy who would keep us out of war, but his followers have been too gullible to see that the guy whose main foreign policy idea was to destroy the Iran deal wanted only one thing, the same thing that Netanyahu has always said he wanted, the bombing of Iran. To even be contemplating these things is insanity. Give the Bush administration credit: when they built their false case for war with Iraq they were thorough. Trump's efforts to do the same are half-assed at best, but it doesn't matter, does it. It's probably too late now. They didn't bomb last night. But they will very soon.
