Farewell, Jeff Beck

Maybe the most painterly of the great guitar heros of the classic era, aside from Hendrix that is. I saw in one of the obits that Beck regretted his turn to jazz-rock fusion in the 70s, believing he should of stuck with heavy blues rock. But I bet that was just an off the cuff statement of regret, as opposed to a definitive judgment. The truth is that his two records in this vein, Blow By Blow and Wired, are terrific -- sui generis when it comes to 70s fusion. And tasteful. This one is even produced by George Martin. How's that for a seal of approval?
