Poem: "It Is Proposed"

That there is something other than this
That it bleeds through unannounced

That getting it not quite right is the way
That getting it wrong can be beautiful

That we sometimes get it right by mistake
That this is how we recognize one another

That there is something we forgot
That the finding of it often raises eyebrows

That we’re all gonna be who we’re gonna be
That the knowing of oneself is akin to fate

That bias is mostly aimed inward
That the knowing of oneself is guesswork

That first thought best thought is trust
That there is only the living of it

That no one ever really saw it coming
That there is nowhere to run to

That there is an indestructible peace
That dead people don’t get their hearts broken

That happiness is realized in retrospect
That we’ve got nothing but time
