Billie Holiday: "These Foolish Things"

Yesterday was quite a day for Cheeto Mussolini, what with that stirring balcony scene. The hearts of his faithful must have been all aflutter, eyes releasing at least a few tears over the patriotic splendor and spectacle of it. The rest of us, well, not so much. For us it was absurd, but not in a funny way, since he is, you know, the guy in the White House. Thus, his foolish things are scary, more consequential than they have any right to be. But, Billie Holiday's "Foolish Things"? One of my very favorites from her repertoire. Perfection and grace and swing. Worth living for.
