Poem: "Two Days After the Mueller Report"
Today’s been murder on the magnolia
blossoms that had the nerve
to come out so early in April
The high whipping winds
are whistling between the triple deckers and the
subsidized housing high-rise down the block
The wind chimes are clanging at peak decibel and
sound like crazed emanations
from the music room at the psych ward
And the birds need to screech
just to get their message out to their companions
clinging to whatever branches they find themselves on
You might blame the barometric pressure
but I blame the Mueller report
which is why the air doesn’t just
look gray
but insinuates
into your soul
