Poem: Chasing the Sunset Down the Coast
So we chased the sunset down the coast
Out the starboard side was a magenta blaze
That refused to be extinguished
Out the port side it was dark plain and simple
But over the cold Atlantic it was always
Twilight the best of both worlds unceasing
So this is what heaven is like I thought
But then we began our final descent
And for a while a decent interval anyway
There was a glowing gray out both sides and
Then it was black until the raw geometry
Of the city showed itself and the red tail lights
Were stacked up tight North and South and I
Was grateful that was someone else’s hell
