The Only One

What's interesting about the whole impeachment thing is that there is actually only one Republican who thinks that Trump is innocent: Trump. And that is because he is obviously not of right mind and is deeply, deeply delusional. The rest of the Republicans? Well, they are deeply, deeply cynical, craven, and corrupt. This would be comical if it weren't so important. Instead it is simply nauseating, dispiriting, and oh so tiresome.

What I especially like is how we are supposed to believe that this isn't exactly the kind of thing Trump would do. No, we are told what a moral affront this inquiry is to a man who is clearly the most decorous, decent, honest, and principled of presidents. Why, exclaimed one Republican in a state of shock and outrage, for what you are saying to be true, the president would have to be a liar! Well, I guess that settles it then.
