Teenage Fanclub: "I Don't Want Control of You"
It's a love song for grown ups, a love song about the kind, or at least one kind, that lasts. I love the plainspoken directness of the lyrics. The artlessness bumps the power up. And I'm a sucker for any love song that features a bridge that culminates with the line, "You've been an inspirational figure for me." That's a good thing to feel when you are married. My advice: If you are ever a little down, just listen to some Teenage Fanclub. Oh, and turn it up!
I don't want control of you
It doesn't matter to me
The very heart and soul of you
Are places I wanna see
It doesn't matter to me
The very heart and soul of you
Are places I wanna see
Everyday I look in a different face
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
I don't want a world of pain
Staring at every tear
Don't want this love to stay the same
Growing with every year
Staring at every tear
Don't want this love to stay the same
Growing with every year
Everyday I look in a different face
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
Tired of situations
That mean nothing to me
You've been an inspirational figure for me
That mean nothing to me
You've been an inspirational figure for me
Everyday I look in a different face
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
I don't want control of you
It doesn't matter to me
It doesn't matter to me
I want this love to stay the same
Growing with every year
Everyday I look in a different face
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
Feelings getting stronger with every embrace
