Absolution Poem

M. Bogen, July 2022

You came to me
For absolution
And this to you I granted
And this from me you accepted
Though you were not a sinner
And I was not a saint
No, you were every sinner
And I was every saint

But then our identities inverted
And flowed in directions undetected
Until we were no longer us
Instead only that which runs
Like a current through
Creation and which was here
Long before the beginning of time
