Everybody Was in Love

Not long ago I looked up
From what I was doing
Only to find that
Everybody was in love

Some found hearts that were pure reflections of their own
Some shared souls that flowed from the same source

Some didn’t know what to call it but knew they had it anyway
Some found a place safely to return to from foreign lands

Some could barely keep from laughing at everything the other said
Some had known each other in all their depth even before they met

Some found theirs once their ideal of the other finally shattered
Some were ecstatic simply to no longer have to explain themselves

Some weren't good at saying it but realized it in their children
Some taught each other magic tricks like how to fly

Some found it the moment they threw their self-help books away
Some communicated mostly with their bodies

Some had it sneak up on them only to awake one morning in recognition
Some contained multitudes and counted their blessings

Some discovered there had never been any reason for their resentment
Some learned not to question and floated on clouds of trust

Just now I looked up again
From what I was doing
Only to find that everybody
Was still in love
    Incredible
Inexhaustible love
